Home Means Nevada to Brian Hibbetts

Brian Hibbetts was born and raised in Las Vegas. He grew up in a working-class family. From a young age, Brian learned the value of hard work and serving your neighbor from his mother and father. At the age of 15, Brian started volunteering with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) Explorer program where he developed a passion for helping others.

Public Safety

Public safety is essential to having a prosperous economy and important to maintaining a high quality of life. Having risen through the ranks from an LVMPD explorer to Police Sergeant, I understand that crime is a massive contributor to poverty, inequality, and disregard of human rights. As your representative, I will support proposals that give our men and women who protect our fellow Nevadans the tools and resources to keep themselves and our communities safe. Additionally, I support policies that strengthen laws against violent criminals and those who target children and our vulnerable populations. Creating a safe and flourishing environment will only work if local, state, and federal authorities are working together to enforce and administer our laws.

Education

Every child deserves access to the best education system possible, which sets the foundation of the learning journey. Our current education system ranks at the bottom of almost every metric and does nothing to prepare our children for the real world. The Clark County School District has grown too large and the school system has been overwhelmed by the dynamic changes it needs to properly teach our students. I support reforms that give local municipalities the ability to opt out of the countywide school district so that they may provide a better and more localized education environment for students. Additionally, we need to provide more school choice opportunities for parents and students who are trapped in failing schools. Your zip code should not determine your access to a quality education.

Economic Prosperity

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic we saw an economic crisis that left many Nevadans unemployed and caused businesses to permanently close. I strongly believe we need to focus on policies that create an economic environment that fosters job growth, increases wages and innovation to get us back on track. We can achieve our economic comeback without unnecessary government mandates, increased taxes, and overregulation. As your representative, I will be a careful steward of our hard earned - tax dollars and fight for policies that hinder excessive and wasteful spending.

Constitutional Rights

Having been born and raised in Las Vegas, I have dedicated my life to protecting our communities as a member of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. I believe that every individual has the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. However, during the pandemic we saw the majority party infringe on our constitutional rights through blanket mandates that closed our schools and businesses. I support reforms that limit the governor’s emergency powers and places them with the people’s house. As your representative, I will always fight to ensure that our individual liberties are not infringed.
